How To Remove Ask.com As Default Web Search Engine

Step 1

Last week ask.com some how got installed on my computer It has taken over all my searches and engines, no matter how many time I reset it to Google
This is worse than some viruses I have seen. After days of searching the web for answer I finally found out how to remove ask.com
I am ask.com free !!

Step 2

Go to this link first
http://media.ask.com/media/toolbar/tools/AskSearchUtility.exe
and save the file , worked for me

Step 3

Try this also if the link does not work

1. Go to Control Panel in Windows itself
2. Click on Internet Properties
3. Click on General
4. Click on Search settings
5. Set new default and delete ask.com

Firefox

1. Open a new tab or window.
2. Type "about:config" and hit enter, this brings up the all powerful settings of Firefox.
3. Agree to the warning that you could mess things up
4. Find keyword.url, you probably should not change anything else
5. Double click and change keyword.url string to something else like http://www.google.com/search?q=
6. Note that you cannot just put in the web site domain, you must put in the parameters before your search query. So find your favorite search engine, do a search and grab all the text up to your actual search results. So that a search for "test" in Google returns this, http://www.google.com/search?q=test, but all you need to input into the keyword.url field is http://www.google.com/search?q=

Open internet explorer browser.
Go to 'Tools'-'Internet options'
Click on 'content' tab
Click on 'Enable'
Now you are on Content Advisor box.
Click on 'General' tab
Then click on 'Create Password' button
Enter your password
Confirm password
Enter an easy question on hint box(to recover password)
Press 'OK'.
Now once again go to 'Tools'-'Internet options'-'Content' tab
Click on 'Settings'
Enter your password.
Enter the website addresses on 'Allow the website' field.
Then click on 'Always' to allow always,'Never' to deny.
Press 'OK' to save.

How to Install new fonts on your computer

First copy the font file

Click 'START'
Select 'Settings'
Select 'Control Panel'
Double click on 'Fonts'.
Now you are on Fonts folder.
Paste the font file
Click the drive and folder which contain the fonts you wand to install.
Double click on the font.The font is now installed on your computer.
In order to select more than one font press and hold 'Ctrl' key and click on the fonts to add.

This is a virus named W32.Sircam .It will change EXE extension

If u have Win-XP please copy rundll32.exe file

1.Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
2.Click Start, and then click Run.
3.Type expand d:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe in the Open box,. d=cdrive
4.Restart

initially open the computer then Right click on My Computer icon and select Properties. From the properties window go to Advance -> Startup and Recovery -> Settings.

There u can see edit button below System startup default operating system then click it. then there opens a file named boot.ini in note pad it is in the following format

delete the last line (Bolded line) .please take a backup copy of Boot.ini
